Now this is really Moving Forward with Disabilities in Retirement…

As I sit at the computer after making an agonizing decision to end our blog. This is now in print. “Kathy has decided to retire!” We all know the people that enjoy working and being their own boss. That is me! There is only one thing…my life has been given another direction. Helping my husband, volunteering and meeting with friends and family has become my number one plan.

When I look over some of the past articles, I only hope that anyone that has a disability will quickly realize that we did not want Curly’s stroke to consume our lives, we go through these stages to appreciate our life. God has given us so many things to explore and enjoy. We did many and will continue to do many more. The difference will be I won’t be sharing them on the blog. If you see us, ask us. We both firmly believe that our van purchases have been to enrich us with travel and friendships.

Curly is starting therapy at home for a few months. Then we plan on going back to a therapy facility where he will continue to go forward with the ability to stay in shape for whatever is ahead in our journey.

Points to remember:

o Find a different way if the first try does not work, never give up!

o Remember you are never alone through your journey; God is there but you need to ask!

o Eat healthy and stay healthy.

o Enjoy your family, get them involved. Some of the biggest smiles on our faces are being with our family.

o Keep good records so that when the need arises you have all medications and doctors on one sheet of paper.

o Don’t forget you have a delete button. If people use social media in the way that you are not comfortable. Delete them or the article. That is your choice.

o Love yourself, love each other and share God’s love with your family and friends.

o We try and start our day with a devotion together and end with our evening prayers together. This sure does make our day go better.

Blessings and a thank you to you all for being part of our success.
