Angels are part of our lives…

With Covid and a few other health issues it has been a while since Curly, and I have been able to get away. That subject came up in our conversation as the weather gets extremely warm in Fountain Hills, Arizona. We have a larger trip planned in August but having a test trip before may be a good idea.

The night before heading to Sedona, one of our true Fountain Hills Angels called and said she was bringing us dinner. What an amazing gift, homemade dinner, starting with appetizers, salad, lasagna, bread, and dessert. This Angel is so kind and generous she does this beautiful meal truly from her heart.

The morning we left we were able to do Curly’s pool therapy with Ron and then take off for our Sedona destination. I thought it was wonderful that we would be able to rent an electric lift that would fit in our van. The one thing I did not anticipate was it would have to be moved out the sliding door opposite the ramp side every time we would stop. There was not enough space behind Curly’s chair to fit the lift, so it needed to come in from the other door. Ok, I can handle that…. That lift is heavy!

Our first stop was for breakfast at the Rock Springs Café.

Oh, and don’t forget their pies! Once we got the lift out so Curly could back up and get in the restaurant, I needed to put the lift back in the van. After a hearty meal it was time to get the lift out for Curly to be able to come up the ramp and turn around in the van. Mission accomplished! Next it was time to put the lift back in for our next part of the road trip. Uhm, gravel driveway and it was difficult to move. This is where we met our 2nd Angel. A gal in her 30’s was watching me and realized that lady needs some help! Over she comes and makes a difficult job a breeze.

Now we arrive at the hotel, and everything is perfect. Curly needs to have a rest so let’s get him in the lift and down in bed. The problem is the lift does not move on carpet very easily when you attach 200 + lbs. to it. Uhm…luckily, we can do plan B with the slide board. Curly gets his rest, and we go out for a beautiful dinner.

Saturday arrives and Kathy has had Winslow Arizona on her bucket list for years. We get going early and take the N 89A scenic route to Flagstaff. Breathtaking! God sure was busy when he created this area and now, he has sent special people into our lives to help us.

Arriving in Winslow for breakfast. This is where we met our 3rd, Angel. Enjoying the La Posada along with the history of the hotel we decide to have breakfast in the Turquoise Room. There is a family meeting for breakfast next to us. Some a few years younger and some a few years older. Curly and I enjoy our breakfast and finally I asked the server for our bill. She points to the man in the hall and said, “he wanted to pay your check”. How nice for someone to do that. We had a short visit with this angel and thanked him. Picture is of our 3rd Angel with Curly.

Moving forward with disabilities in retirement we headed back to spend the night in Sedona and came home the next morning. Was the test trip good? Yes, we have decided to have the lift with us on our trip to Minnesota as a backup.

The most important thing; we experienced the Angels that God put in our lives to make our days special.
